PAUL TREVILLION has been described as the Pele of Sports Artists, a visionary, sports marketing guru motivator and raconteur, known for his distinctive 'Master of Movement' pen & ink artwork capturing the legends in sport since the early days of the 1950's - Sugar Ray Robinson & Randolph Turpin...the England and Australian Coronation Ashes teams... and his football heroes a corner kick from his terraced house in Love Lane, Tottenham!
Not to mention an inspirational meeting at Mansion House in 1952 with the Duke of Edinburgh, HRH Prince Philip
and in 1955 Trevillion met Sir Winston Churchill who signed his portrait
the only signed smiling portrait of Churchill that exists today.
In 1972 Paul Trevillion 'The Beaver', won the confidence of Don Revie and the Leeds United team and in the matter of weeks, REVOLUTIONISED football, making Leeds United the FIRST MODERN DAY FOOTBALL CLUB. Trevillion created sock tags and target balls, introduced pre-match synchronised warm ups, players names on the back of tracksuits, and most notably was the man who instigated the creation of the iconic Leeds United anthem 'Leeds, Leeds Leeds'
In the late 1980's Trevillion created DJ Bear the Panda of Peace, a larger than life mascot character who visited the football league grounds with the aim of combating football hooliganism, with fun and laughter, freebies and family entertainment. Such was his success, D J BEAR became the Football League's Official Mascot and inspired football league clubs to introduce their own club mascots.
In 2017 Trevillion was commissioned by Snickers to work alongside football legend PELE in a European Snickers campaign ‘Play Like Pele’, creating original artwork of Pele in action, and also appearing together in a TV advert featuring Trevillion art animated around the magnificent stadium.
All this and so much more over the years....creator of the iconic 'YOU ARE THE REF' (and later 'YOU ARE THE UMPIRE') legendary Roy of the Rovers artist who brought 'Comic Art Realism' to Tiger in 1963, later in the 60's illustrating the record breaking newspaper syndication 'GARY PLAYER GOLF CLASS', inventor of golf's Split Hand 'PENCIL GRIP' putting method touring America in the 1970's - and widely known then as the 'Putter Nutter' - , co-founder/artist behind the FOOTBALL WALK OF FAME at the National Football Museum, art exhibitions at the Strand Gallery, London; National Football Museum, FIFA Museum (Zurich)
Trevillion has worked over the years with major brands such as Coca Cola, Hershey, Budweiser, Adidas, Umbro and Snickers , and on high profile sports related mental health and anti-discrimination projects with the Football Association, PFA and PGMOL and stateside with the NFL (Including 'Monsters of the Grid Iron' , NBA, MLB, NASCAR and even WCW Wrestling!
At 89, TREVILLION is still a full time working artist, a long term NUJ and Equity Union member (his theatre credits include the London Palladium) ...and of course he is a proud Honorary member of the Leeds United Supporters Trust.
